The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

It is the evening when the song to me is sent

In silent revelling

unspoken sacrement

and all around me breathes

the witness

of presence

let no condition hold the love we all bestow

The heavy headed watch

the greener grasses grow

and in this fantasy

of past and future woe

let it go

I wander - love will bring me home

Come to me lovely

you're gone without a trace

ain't that the way it goes

Simplicity is written in this play

Smile as soft as

Light or Dark as

Near and Far I'll roam

Right or wrong...

I'm home

Left a Mark

Maria

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

Maria - Every womans heart you hold

I can't see us, but that's not important anymore

Some days I'd lye around

and lie around to myself

and worry when my mind says

I must please you

These days,

that's not important anymore

And all the parts of me that would always go unfed

For fear of being made a fool

on a stage inside my head

and yet all the while,

almost everything I'd said had been a line

It's been difficult this growth,

but we've passed the slickest road

When the lamplight does runout

I will have you faith to guide me

Winters eyes can melt my

heart and mouth

So I break these bonds,

Maria

Help to unwind me

I'll walk with you always,

keeping you company

when you grow cold,

The only thing we've learned

is that we know nothing

so trust in our hearts

and just

Go

It's been difficult this growth

but we've passed the slickest road

Time this lifeline to be cut

as I know it cannot hold me

yet some evenings

I still feel your touch

and my soul Ignites

Maria

Every womans heart you hold

The Faucon

(Dave Tate)

Photobucket

"Faucon" is old english for Falcon. "lully lullay, the faucon has born my mahk away" is an excerpt from a 13th century poem by an unknown source.

Many choral pieces and a handful of art songs are based on this text, including Brittans "Corpus Christi Carol" which Jeff Buckley brought into the public eye on his LP Grace. In my song, not a cover of Brittans work but an original using some references of the old text, I use one line from this poem, and the rest has a personal meaning to me of death and rebirth, it is not limited to, but contains elements of the wikipedia explanation below

- Corpus Christi Carol is a Middle or Early Modern English hymn (or carol), first found in a manuscript written around 1504 of an apprentice grocer named Richard Hill. The original writer of the carol remains anonymous. The predominant theory about the meaning of the carol is that it is concerned with the legend of the Holy Grail. In Arthurian traditions of the Grail story, the Fisher King is the knight who is the Grail's protector, and whose legs are perpetually wounded. Another theory is that the text is an allegory where Christ, referenced in the Crucifixion, is a wounded knight. One recent interpretation is that it was composed about the execution of Anne Boleyn, wife of Henry VIII, whose badge was a falcon. However, since Anne Boleyn was killed in 1536 and the earliest copy carol yet found is from 1504, this is most unlikely.[1] English composers Peter Warlock and Benjamin Britten have both used the carol in composition and applied it to those that died at war. Warlock's setting dates from 1919 and Britten's (the fifth variation in his opus 3, "A boy was born") from 1933. Singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley included his interpretation of Britten's work on his debut 1994 album, Grace. About his version Buckley said, "The 'Carol' is a fairytale about a falcon who takes the beloved of the singer to an orchard. The singer goes looking for her and arrives at a chamber where his beloved lies next to a bleeding knight and a tomb with Christ's body in it."[2]...Glossary faucon: falcon mak: mate, love bare: bore, carried

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

Has the Faucon born my mahk away

It was written on the stone where he once lay

And yet upon cherabims golden hills

I wandered through the night

and prayed lord god to alieve my fear

and let my breath be light

Lully Lullay

Enwrought upon cherabims golden hills, I hold my head

in your light and pray lord god to alieve my fear,

and let my breath..

Has the faucon born my mahk away?

It was written on the stone where she once prayed

Son arise on Cherabims golden hills

I hold my heart in your light

and thank lord god for being here

to let my breath

be

light

Light was Low

(Dave Tate)

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

Light was Low

I've got this feeling

that I'm never going to

get over you

We shook the earth

when we made love

yeah - made the mountains move

Early in the evening

when the nightbird sings

Standing underneath

what was my home

Watching with new eyes

my soul takes wing

to the unknown

Like a photograph that shows

the way that things once were

We could set that down my love...

Step inside of me

I stir

Light was low that evening

when the nightbird sang

Standing underneath

what was my home

Watching with

new eyes

My soul takes wing

to the unknown

Yeah there's a part of me that longs for you still

A part of me that will not

move

I will rise on the crest

and fall in the wake of you

Harmony

(Dave Tate)

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

Harmony in sweet rhythm

coalesce around my door

to the day is given

New tonight

My solitude restored

Than I don't want it anymore

She watches the window

Waiting for a birth

Same way as the winter

hangs her heart on earth

Than I turn from the question

to loose my mind in mirth

Can you see the seed is growing?

Do you hear it echo?

Do you know the tale we're sewing?

The way it goes -

Harmony

We're watching the way I'm walking

Let loose in the sunrise

The wind she is veiled in talking

Let the mother rise

In Harmony

Rose

(Dave Tate)

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

I had a dream about an Indian princess

Long love and the softest heat

A woman who knew

She ran through the woods with me

and we bathed in her mercy

That the world in the eyes of love

may emerge from you

The silent reveling

saving the sinner

pull me out from the fear and the desire

I am embellished by you

holy as water

Like a piece of me I didn't know I'd lost

'till your heart met mine

You know that I am

Don't let these seeking eyes disguise

Slip into your hands

Watch as the pain turns into light

Rose I am wading in you

Listen through the stars

From ashes rise into the beauty of your heart

Rose I am wading in you

written in the stars

From ashes rise into the beauty of your heart

And I weep because the

Ice around me

Is beginning to dissolve

Like Water

(Dave Tate)

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

When the wind of change

comes blowing

I got it going

through my head

See we are but a phase in knowing

yeah

And your vision shakes from rocking

You gotta put your mind at ease

And as you think

the stakes get higher

well please.

Going over

what was yesterday

Letting go of

the past

Good love

Surely

Meant to integrate at last

You feel like water

Rushing - or my home

Come

Rebuild it with me baby

and count me as your own

I know it's hard to see

beneath the fantasy

of what the world calls love

but

freedom

I will always sing your song

And in the end it's over you

nothing personal baby

Just gotta move where my feet go

for love of us open up the noose

high as trees

we blow along

Always trying to seek the message

take two steps

back than one ahead

all those stones

won't shield you from me

Familiar two

are bringing

The answer dancing in my bed

align - you bring the message home

Going over

what was yesterday

lettin go

of the past

Good love

Surely

meant to integrate

at last

In to Mercy

Now

the dream of you lyes still

my home

my soul

my will

We came togeather by the stream

I ask you what it means

Oh lord

Where the moon

sank sweetly into mercy

and the Sun rose

burning overhead

When the wind

blows gently

into this dream

My love

Innocent again

Go now if you must

hiding from the road

that found our love

Sun on the wash of seasons past

Your light

tonight

In a dream of good love past

You have a home in me

and with it

everything

see me

I'm dreaming

dreaming sweet dreaming

dreaming

I'm dreaming of our love

Where the moon sank sweetly

into mercy

and the sun

Rose

burning overhead

When the wind

blows gently

through my heart

my love

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

There was a time I swore I knew you as clear as my own head

and every lie you would see through to everywhere we met

and now I pray my sky as often

as I dreamed of worlds I saw

and the Ice of Iceolation

soon began to thaw

If I could bathe myself in silence

the bluest blue I'd be,

clinging to the secret

that I have yet to see

and if I hang myself on laughter

or dry myself in tears

loose myself forever

in the solitude of here

And how I love to long you

with everyone I am

but I am praying to a statue

of a woman I don't have

and If I've ever felt emotion,

If I've ever writhed in pain

than I must know the darkness

will come around again

Surely

The Solitude of Here - Dave Tate

Woke up this morning

You were lying next to me

didn't sleep to much last night...

In a place I'd been

with a change in the scenery

I may have guessed you'd change your mind

You are a tune

deeply sung

You are the feeling in the words

See through the mask

That I take off

to finally go beneath the hurt

I didn't even know was there,

fear I've held all these ages

Cunning me was unaware

and now I'm falling fast

Where I'm alive

and incapable of worry

Where I'm alive

and in love with you

Surely
